The vast majority of us, if not all of us, have established some kind of skincare routine for ourselves (hopefully). However, there is a limit to what can be accomplished with a skincare routine performed at home. Regardless of whether you stick to the fundamentals or go all out with a multi-step routine, we still require occasional professional treatments in order to achieve the best possible results.
Microneedling is now being introduced. We bet you haven't found a cream that can do all of these things yet, but this incredible treatment can give your complexion a new lease of life by promoting new skin, reducing the appearance of acne scars and large pores, stimulating blood flow, and increasing the production of collagen and elastin in the skin.
Microneedling is a procedure that involves the creation of microchannels, targeting precise depth of the skin stimulating your skins natural wound healing process, producing elastin and collagen to rejuvenate your skin from the inside out.
The microneedling procedure is performed using the only FDA approved, Class II Medical skin remodelling device, Skinpen® Precision, carrying the licence to treat all skin types and many conditions, such as: acne scars, surgical scars, fine lines & wrinkles, melasma, vitiligo, solar lentigines (sun & age spots)
Skinpen® Precision is a microneedling device with 14 sharp needles that glides through the skins surface with even pressure, preventing any scarring, streaking or marking, which are common in other microneedling devices such as derma roller. The needles penetrate the skin perpendicularly at 90 degrees, delivering controlled results throughout. The needle sharpness is also maintained and stays the same throughout the treatment up to 80 minutes, validated to deliver 1,600 microchannels per second
This microneedling device utilizes collagen induction. This means that they cause microscopic wounds to appear on the surface of the skin in order to encourage the production of collagen and promote skin repair.
These superficial punctures in the top layer of the skin send a message to the rest of the body that it has been injured, which stimulates the production of new collagen and elastin. The way in which your body heals scrapes and cuts is comparable to the way in which it heals these minor wounds that were produced on purpose.
Skinpen® Precision microneedling is a newer form of microneedling technology that allows for more controlled, adjustable depths within the same session, and it is a lot faster than previous forms of the technology. This is the method that we prefer to use when needling the face or body. The pen reduces skin trauma and the amount of time needed for recovery by using precise and controlled depth. This is currently the most popular approach to microneedling, and it's the one that we use here at Dermamina as well because it's less uncomfortable, requires less recovery time, and produces better results.
We are aware of what you are probably thinking, and it is "ouch." What kind of person would want to act in such a way? First and foremost, this is due to an increase in collagen. And given that we can never get enough collagen, the slightly uncomfortable facial is well worth the discomfort that it causes. Microneedling is one method of collagen induction (CIT), which boosts the production of collagen and elastin in the skin. These two proteins are responsible for the skin's volume, elasticity, and reduced appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
On the surface of our skin, each of us has openings called pores, which function to drain oil and sweat and are essentially very small holes that allow our skin to breathe. They can be so small that they are hardly noticeable or so large that you can't help but stare at them. Large pores can be caused by a number of different things, but the most common reason for them is when they become clogged with excess oil, dirt, or dead skin. Other possible causes are listed below. In addition, the larger they are, the less effort it takes for them to gather even more garbage. Microneedling is an effective method for reducing the size of your pores because it can access areas of your skin that are difficult to access and unclog pores while also producing new collagen and elastin to help tighten the skin.
By puncturing the skin with thousands of tiny holes, products can be absorbed through the new wounds and through pores that have been unclogged more effectively. This increases the number of channels that are available into the skin as well as the amount of product that is absorbed. Because of this, when we perform a microneedling treatment, we apply potent serums to the skin while the wounds are still open. This ensures that you receive the best possible results.
Microneedling is a treatment that is extremely helpful for people who have scars, especially acne scars that are set deep into the skin. It does this by promoting the growth of new skin while simultaneously breaking down any old scar tissue that may be present. Because an increase in collagen fills out and creates volume in the skin, it can also help to improve the appearance of scars. Scars will appear less defined and will have a smoother texture as a result of the increase in collagen.
As the small wounds are made, the immune system cleverly increases blood flow in the affected area so that it can receive more oxygen and nutrients to assist in the healing process. This is done so that the small wounds can be healed more quickly. It should come as no surprise that the skin on your face, which now contains more oxygen and nutrients, will feel and look healthier, and will radiate with a natural glow.
The majority of individuals who have experimented with microneedling have reached the conclusion that it can be a little unsettling at times. But hey, that's why you go to a professional who is experienced, uses numbing cream, and knows how to make you feel cared for
But don't let that scare you. Some people report that the sensation caused by microneedling is quite light, with the only sensitivity occurring in places where the skin is particularly thin, such as the forehead. In point of fact, everyone has a different pain threshold, but microneedling is generally bearable regardless of what yours may be; this is especially the case when considering the prospect of a healthy and rejuvenated complexion.
Because it involves puncturing the surface of your skin with very fine needles, the term "microneedling" has a reputation for being somewhat intimidating. At Dermamina, on the other hand, getting a microneedling treatment is a simple and stress-free process.
Your appointment will always start with the skin being cleansed and prepared. Even though it's always a good idea to show up to your appointment with clean, makeup free skin, our team will make sure that your skin is in its best and cleanest state before treatment regardless.
After we have washed your face, we will apply a topical numbing cream, and then you will need to wait for it to take effect before moving on. After the topical anaesthetic cream has completely numbed the region, we will then proceed with the microneedling procedure using the pen. The length of time required for treatment will vary according to the ailment or condition of your skin that you want to address; however, you should plan on the majority of treatments taking between 15-30 minutes
Before beginning your microneedling treatment, your skincare routine should be as gentle as possible. This means that you should steer clear of excessive exfoliation, actives, and anything else that is on the more aggressive side. If you haven't taken care of your skin in the days leading up to the procedure, the micro-traumas that are caused by microneedling can feel much worse than they actually are.
Because microneedling will cause the skin's barrier to be breached, it is essential to ensure that the treatment itself is the culprit and not a failure on your part to properly care for your skin. It will be more uncomfortable to work on a skin barrier that has already been compromised, so do your future self a favour and prevent this from happening. To maintain the integrity of your skin's barrier in preparation for the treatment, use a gentle cleanser, a hydrating and nourishing moisturiser, and a sun protection factor (SPF) product during the day.
It is recommended that you arrive at your appointment with your face having been recently washed and toned, so the treatment can commence straight away
Aftercare is of the utmost importance after a microneedling treatment has been completed.
The primary objective of the aftercare that follows microneedling is to allow your skin to return to its normal state.
This indicates that you should give your skin time to relax and refrain from exposing it to heat and sunlight, as these elements can cause it to perspire, which in turn can be irritating to the skin.
If your barrier has been compromised, your skin will be more susceptible to damage from the sun; therefore, you should always wear sunscreen.
Even after your treatment has been completed, you should continue to cleanse your skin with a mild cleanser, apply a hydrating serum, and moisturise your skin. We will provide a gel for you to take post treatment to ensure maximum healing
We advise to wait at least 24 hours before applying makeup
The procedure known as microneedling is minimally invasive and requires very little to almost no recovery time.
The majority of potential adverse effects from microneedling only last for a short period of time. It is unusual for the treatment to cause temporary side effects such as swelling and flaky skin for a few days after the treatment, but these side effects are possible. In a normal situation, your skin will become red, and after a couple of hours, it will begin to calm down.
Because it does not involve the use of heat, microneedling is appropriate for people of any skin tone; therefore, you need not worry if you have a lighter or darker skin tone and are prone to pigmentation.
Those who have skin conditions such as acne scarring, hyperpigmentation, age spots, and fine lines and wrinkles are ideal candidates for microneedling. In addition, microneedling is a dream come true for people who want to improve the texture and tone of their skin.
On the other hand, microneedling is not something that should be done by women who are either nursing or pregnant. In order to prevent further skin irritation and damage, it is not recommended for people who suffer from conditions such as psoriasis, severe eczema, extremely sensitive skin, collagen vascular diseases, fungal infections, keloid scars, or scleroderma.
Because microneedling can make acne inflammation worse for people who have active acne breakouts, it is best to wait until after the active breakout has cleared up before attempting the treatment. The same is true for skin infections, which can be passed on to other areas of the body or made worse by a procedure such as microneedling.
A treatment plan consisting of three to six sessions is strongly recommended in order to achieve the best possible outcomes. It is dependent on the person, and the condition of the skin
